Our Values in Action

At Our Core, It’s About People.

Our core values guide how we work together, how we partner with our clients, and how we show up in our communities. They shape our culture, influence our decisions, and help us design workplaces that support people and performance. More than words, these values are lived every day by the individuals who make up our team.

Our Core Values

Four values. One shared commitment – to connect, lead with trust, imagine what’s possible, and show up with purpose.

We Connect

We believe the strongest work starts with real connection. That means listening first, staying curious, and building relationships rooted in trust and understanding. When people feel heard and supported, better ideas follow and stronger partnerships grow.

We Lead With Trust

Trust is built through consistency, honesty, and follow-through. We lead by doing what we say we’ll do and standing behind our work. By showing up with integrity and transparency, we create an environment where our team and our partners can move forward with confidence

We Imagine

We believe the best ideas start with curiosity. By asking thoughtful questions and imagining what’s possible, we push beyond the expected to create solutions grounded in real experience. For us, innovation isn’t about chasing trends, it’s about designing spaces that genuinely work for the people who use them.

We Show Up

Showing up means being present, dependable, and engaged every step of the way. For our team, our clients, and our communities, we lead with care, consistency, and a shared sense of responsibility. When it matters most, we’re there.

What It Means to Me
Trust. I think integrity is a core quality for the human connection; how we all rely on each other from co-workers to vendors to customers. It’s one of the foundation blocks that the others (values) build on.

What It Means to Me
I feel both We Connect and We Lead with Trust resonate the most with me. I’ve been with the company for a long time, so personally, it’s a second family and home. I’ve been around to see the company’s growth as well as many challenges that go along with it. Whether a win or loss, we’ve always risen to the occasion. To have the longevity with some of our clients is impressive and speaks to the trust they have in our company to continue the relationship. I take pride knowing that I’m part of the ‘small, but mighty’ Business Furnishings family.

What It Means to Me
We Imagine is the core value that resonates most deeply with me. With nearly 28 years of experience as an interior designer, I approach every project with intention and a love for solving complex challenges. I see each space as a puzzle – one that requires thoughtful design, creativity, and purpose to bring it fully to life. The most rewarding moment comes after installation, when the client has moved in and shares how seamlessly the space supports their work, both functionally and aesthetically. Hearing that the environment inspires them and that they couldn’t have achieved it without my guidance is what fuels my passion and reinforces the value of imagining what’s possible.

Where I See it in Action
Every Christmas, our BF family comes together to make a meaningful impact on a less fortunate family’s holiday, and we take time as a team to celebrate that experience and what it represents.

Where I See it in Action
I have witnessed Deb being an exceptional steward of one of our key clients by consistently prioritizing the re-utilization of existing furniture whenever and wherever possible. Deb remains committed to doing what is best for the client rather than simply selling new products. Her integrity and client-first mindset have built deep trust over her 30 years with the company, strengthening long-term relationships and reinforcing our role as a true partner.

Where I See it in Action
We Connect, I feel like we demonstrate this value every day. I trust my co-workers, for example Kate is the designer with one of my key clients’ projects, and we are consistently collaborating together to make the projects a reality. We work closely together and have formed an unbreakable bond. I trust her design work and she trusts my opinions and together we make up a team that provides great service to a national client.

The Future We’re Building
Business Furnishings cares deeply about the needs of our community, and I believe we are doing a better job of being visible and proving that commitment. Giving back allows others to see our values and understand that we are about more than just selling furniture.

The Future We’re Building
Our core values are what keep us real. They shape how we treat people, how we show up, and how we make decisions when things get hard. We came together as a team to define them and because of them, I’m excited about our future; it means we’ll keep growing without losing who we are.

I feel like the core values help us grow together and are helping us expand our business. I feel like we have more direction and are working together more as a team/family to grow not only our own portfolios, but Business Furnishings as a whole.

How I’m Putting It Into Practice
I’d like to do a better job of being really present with people—listening first, asking better questions, and making decisions with both empathy and accountability in mind. In the rush of the day to day, it can be easy to just go through the motions. I want to slow down enough to take a big picture look and do what’s right for our team and our clients.

Designed to Give

See how our values extend beyond our walls, as we work alongside community members to provide comfort, connection, and meaningful support where it’s needed most.

Spreading Holiday Magic

Each year, our team adopts a family through our local Salvation Army chapter, coming together to create a memorable holiday season for those who need it most. From wish list items to stocking stuffers and essentials, we work as a team to bring warmth and joy to a deserving family during the holidays. It’s one of our favorite traditions! A small way to give back and remind ourselves what the season is truly about.

An Afternoon of Connection and Joy

Our team spent a memorable afternoon volunteering at Hannah & Friends, a local nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults with special needs. Their mission to raise awareness and compassion for those with different abilities resonates deeply with us. We enjoyed summer sun, water fights, and plenty of smiles with their residents—an experience that reminded us that the best moments are often the simplest ones spent connecting with others.

Nourishing Our Community

In 2025, we launched our Furnishing Hope initiative by partnering with REAL Services and the REAL Grille to support the Meals on Wheels program. We hosted lunch for the downtown business community, bringing together friends and neighbors to raise funds that ensure seniors in our community have access to healthy, nourishing meals. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share why this program matters, and witness our community come together to help sustain it.
